Advanced Tactics & Skills Development

Hunting Rifle Skills Advancement

This a course where you can adapt sniper skills to general purpose hunting so you can make that hit instead of watching the buck bounce away across the canyon? If you have some familiarity with your rifle, but want to work on the weakest link in the chain, the hunter’s skills, then this is your course!  This is also an excellent course for the new hunter or any member of the family who is looking for calm, professional instruction in a low-stress and productive environment.

More Details:

We will start with a short classroom session, then migrate to the range where we will concentrate on making accurate shots, under pressure of time, at typical hunting distances to 300 yards. We will shoot from prone, kneeling, sitting and standing. Learn to use the rifle sling for stability. Optimize your scope position on the rifle.

AR-15 Operator

So you bought one (or three) and really don’t know the ins and outs of using it?

Learn from a pro. Guy has been professionally carrying the AR-15 since the late 1970’s and knows a thing or two about putting rounds on target, quickly, with an AR-15 rifle. We’ll go over nomenclature, assembly and disassembly, cleaning, loading, modifying, and of course SHOOTING the AR-15!

More Details:

This is a user’s course, not an armorer’s course. You’ll need your rifle, at least three magazines, cleaning gear and 500 rounds of ammunition.

You will shoot from standing, sitting, kneeling and prone. Shoot on the move safety and accurately; lone and as a team! Use the sling for stability and quickly acquire the sights and target. Safety and clearing malfunctions, reloading on target both near and far.

If you don’t have a sling for your rifle, no problem, we’ll instruct on the use of a shooting sling, and get you acquainted with the basics. Even the standard sling that comes with most AR-15’s is well worthwhile. Bring your AR-15, several magazines, and we’ll work with it.

  • A good attitude and ready to learn
  • Completion of NRA Basic Rifle or Demonstrated Safety and Proficiency

Precision Rifle

Do you have a heavy barreled precision-type rifle and want to learn to get the most out of it in a field environment? Welcome to our Precision Rifle class! This two day course will instruct you how to bring the most out of yourself and your rifle out to 600 yards. Shooting from multiple positions and various sniper “tricks” will be taught. If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying. Anything we can do to make the shot!

Students must have a precision, scoped rifle, zeroed at 100 yards. A rifle sling is mandatory, a bipod or other rest is also required. Your choice. Slings from Turner Saddlery or Tactical Intervention are highly recommended. Harris bipods work great, the “swivel” version is best. Students will need 200 rounds of quality ammunition, capable of 1” or better groups at 100 yards. It’s a waste of time to attempt this class with a poor quality rifle, scope or ammo. Cartridges like the .223 and .308 are preferred, but others are acceptable. Your heavy-barreled AR-15, or bolt action varmint/target rifle is welcome. If you have something else you wish to use, call and check with the instructor.

This course is very intensive, hands-on, taught by a sniper instructor with both military and law enforcement experience, who is also a long-range high master in NRA rifle competition. Restricted to no more than six students.

Additional optics the student will find helpful include: rangefinder, binoculars, spotting scope. Be prepared to operate as a sniper-spotter team. If you don’t bring a shooting partner, one will be assigned.
  • Students will need to provide their own weapons. A ball cap, eye protection and ear protection is also required.  Water and non-disruptive snacks are suggested.

Pistol Combatives

For students who have already passed the Concealed Carry and Practical Pistol Handling course. We will review the basics then spend time working on Close Quarter Battle drills, rapid reloads, engaging multiple targets, shooting from a variety of positions and shooting to longer ranges.
